KEJARI Camp 2010

For those of you who do not know what is Kejari, let me introduce. Kem Jati Diri (aka KEJARI) It's a camp organised by my hostel Kolej Tun Perak (aka KTP). The main purpose of this camp is to choose the new MTM(some sort of representative in my hostel) among the juniors in KTP. They have just chosen 80 juniors to join this camp. But they were some people propose to join this camp volunteerly and I do not know what is wrong with them.

So should I say luckily, or unluckily, I was the chosen one to join for this camp. I didn't want to go at all cause going camping is not my thing. And I have to go to UPM all the way from Penang during holiday? That's ridiculous. I decided not to go. Somehow, a Chinese senior of mine advised me to go. The reason is, I couldn't post it here as I might get sued or beaten up? Hahaha. Okay, so the conclusion was, I had to go.

When I was enjoying my days during my holiday at home, the days to go for this camp has come. 20th to 23rd of December. I felt like just giving up and not going. I cannot imagine I had to travel all alone from Penang to UPM. But at last I did, as I've promised my senior.

So early morning my dad drop me to the bus station. After 4 hours of journey, I reached KL safely. I took the KTM and taxi all alone. I was quite afraid but thank God everything was fine. After I've reached UPM, they say we are going to our destination soon. They told us the bus will start going at 2pm, but in the end, the bus started the journey at 4pm. How punctual they are. They also told us that the location of the camp is Hulu Langat which is somewhere around Selangor, but ended up the camp is in UPM itself in Bukit Ekspo. How funny. There were 83 participants in this camp, 18 of them are Chinese. Ended up 2 of the participant went back home earlier. When we reached Bukit Ekspo, the seniors asked us to send our parents a sms telling them our camping trip will be in UPM, and asked us to switch off our phones. Soon after that, the activities started.

First, we put up our own camps. Unfortunately, the camp that me and my friends got is broken. We were unable to set it up. And fortunately, there were some kind gentlemen who got an extra camp and gave it to us. So after that, we had to cook our own food. I wanted to offer to help, but seems like nobody wanted me to help. Well, I just stood beside and see how they cook. Since I was not cooking, I couldn't comment much about the cooking. I just can say that I feel thankful at home with the delicious food. Well, I'm from Penang,it's famous for the food. That night, the activity was, we had to present in front about which state are we from, what's the famous food and destination to hang out and to sing our state song. It was okay. After the activity, we were asked to sing our hostel song. Lagu KTP. Almost all of us didn't know how to sing it. Then, there was this I-don't-know-who-is-that senior came and scolded us like crazy.

"How long have you been in this hostel? You still do not know how to sing this song? Shame on you. Is it that difficult to sing it? Tell me, is it difficult? Don't you love your hostel?"

I cannot imagine that I am 20, and I don't think I am doing any mistake at all and I get scolded as if I am 5 years old. That moment, I felt that just walk to my camp and take my bag and say goodbye. I cannot believed that I'm forced to come to this stupid camp and I had to get scolded? I scold my students for being naughty, doing something wrong or not doing homework, and now I get scolded for something that I do not deserve at all? What on earth is going on here?!!!

Ahem, first of all, yes, I do not love this hostel, this place is lousy and dirty that I wrote a poem about it. Second of all, we don't sing our stupid hostel song every single day. You guys taught us this song for like I don't know how many times during the orientation week. I didn't even attend that day as I was not in UPM as my friends came to visit me, or should I say save me. So stop asking if it is that difficult to sing that stupid song cause if we love our hostel, we will know how to sing it!!!!!! Are you crazy!!!!??

Well, that was what I wanted to tell him and of course I didn't have the courage to tell him this and that's the reason why I'm writing it in this blog. Hahaha. So I told my Chinese senior that I'm so sorry, I will go back tomorrow morning as this camp is stupid. And it was raining season and it rained everyday. There was rain water in my camp. My camp stink,my clothes stink, my bag stinks, my shoes stinks, and I myself stink!!!!! I was hungry, the food sucks, we had to wear our sport shoes and it was raining, everything was wet, there were a lot of mosquitoes, we got scolded for something we do not deserve. And every single meals before we eat, they choose some one from us to greet all the seniors one by one by their names and ask them to eat. How ridiculous is that!? Do they think that they are God or kings or our parents or whoever? Ahhh!!! I really hate the moment when I was there, I decided to go home after that. I was thinking, why am I suffering here when now is holiday? How could this happen to me?

We were released to sleep at around 2am and we had to get up at 5.30am. I couldn't sleep the whole night as inside our camp is wet because of the rain and there were like thousands of mosquitoes killing me. I planned to go back the second day. Of course I felt bad that I going to leave, I know I'm very irresponsible like this, but I just couldn't take it anymore, especially for the scolding part. Screaming at us like crazy in the middle of the night is too much. Somehow, my senior asked me to be patient and get over it. And surprisingly, I did. I couldn't believe that I managed to get over this horrible 4 days 3 nights camp.

When I knew that I had to continue it and cannot escape, I took things positively and tried to face it happily as I had no choice already. Hahaha. I put up a smile, laughed and joked with my friends to make myself feel happier with this sucky surrounding. Hahaha.

During the second day, they had their activities going on. Honestly, some of the activities I did learn something there. But some of the activities I totally do not get the whole point of it. It's like pointless and time wasting to have these activities. For example, they want us to act how Malays get married, the whole process of it. There were 10 groups of us, so 10 groups of us were acting the same thing. So we were like spending hours of time doing the same thing which has no point.

Yeah, I have a lot to complain about this camp. I admit that I am a weak person as I planned to go home half way during this camp. But thank God I managed to get through it. I never thought that I can finish the whole camp. I thought I will just take my bag and leave and buy a bus ticket to go back to Penang although that I've bought a ticket for 23rd to go back already. When my senior told me to be patient and get through it, I really didn't want to, but I know I had to. I could just pray to God and ask Him to give me strength to get over this stupid thing already, and really He did. I thought since I had to stay here, why not I take it positively and try to learn something new, and yes, I did. I learned a lot. Guess what did I learn? First and foremost,

1.) How to be extremely patient when you see the seniors are asking you to do some stupid activities that is ridiculous, pointless and time wasting.
2.)How to shut myself up when someone is in front scolding you for something that you do not deserve it
3.)How to sleep on the floor, with a sucky, stinky, thousands of mosquitoes, uncomfortably without pillows and bolsters and hard surrounding.
4.)Walk in the heavy rain with my raincoat for hours
5.)Walk around the jungle in the middle of the night
6.)Got my eyes covered up and know how does it feel to be unable to see
7.)How to do things that you do not want to do at all
8.)How to sleep for only 7 hours in 3 nights

Some time I see the things they do, it's really very ridiculous that I feel like laughing out loud. It's like a comedy. Hahahaha... I'm not sure if you guys know what I mean, but I'm sure you guys will agree with me if you are they seeing what they M are doing. Hilarious. Hahaha. But this camp really teaches me how to be patient.

PATIENT!!!
Hahaha.

Anyway, really thank God for the safe trips to go and back from there. Thank God for letting me to get through it and thank God for the lessons that I've learned.
